string.matches()

Get the substrings in a String that match a provided regular expression.

Signature

matches(regex: String) => Array<String>

Description

Returns an Array of substrings in the calling String that match a provided regular expression.

The calling String isn’t changed.

Parameters

Regular expression to find matches for in the calling String. Supports Java regex.

Return value

Type Description

Array<String>

Substrings that match the provided regular expression.

Examples

'foo bar baz'.matches('bar')
[
  "bar"
]
'foo bar baz'.matches('[a-z]+')
[
  "foo",
  "bar",
  "baz"
]
